We’ve been working with Wellington City Council since 1995.

 

GPS has taken on responsibility for every aspect of the council’s parking operations, from installation and maintenance to cash collection and enforcement. We continue to manage all support tickets, provide investigations and refund services, and submit monthly management reports.

 

25 years of innovation and integration

In 1995 we deployed 40 of our first generation meters with limited functionality.
In 2003/2004 we upgraded and deployed 300 second generation meters with real-time credit card processing.
In 2004 we invented and deployed TXT-a-Park™ – the world’s first truly integrated mobile phone parking payment system.
In 2011/2012 we upgraded and deployed 500 third generation Metro meters, and integrated them with Parkopedia’s real-time guidance system.

 

Cost reductions and clear roadmap

We’ve secured substantial parking system cost reductions for Wellington City Council, and provided a clear roadmap for future technology upgrades including Near Field Communications (NFC) and a fully integrated ticketing system.
